Book and pay

Step by step

1. Choose an offer

   On your request page, open the offer you like and tap Confirm and book. Pick your start date first if the owner gave you a range.

2. Review, pickup and message

   Check the dates and price. Confirm the pickup and return details. Add a short note to the owner if you like, then Continue to Payment.

3. First time only: verify your identity

   On your very first booking you will see Verify your identity to continue. Tap Verify identity and follow the prompts with a driver licence or passport. It takes about two minutes, is handled by Stripe, and HireHire never stores your documents. After this you get an ID Verified badge and never repeat it.

4. Pay and confirm

   You will see the rental total, the service fee and Security bond (held, not charged). Enter your card and tap Request to Book.

5. Wait for the owner

   You will see Request Sent! with a booking reference. The owner is notified and usually replies within a few hours. You get a notification the moment they accept.

When is my card actually charged?

• Saving a card charges nothing.
• Shortly before pickup, the rental amount and the bond are held on your card. A hold is not a charge; it reserves the money.
• If pickup is within 48 hours of booking, that hold is placed straight away and you will be asked to Authorise it in the app.
• The rental is charged only when you tap Agree & Start Rental at pickup. The bond stays a hold and is released after the return.
• If the owner declines, every hold is released.
